Starting from the inception to the operation and maintenance stage of the system as enumerated below.

  A Business MIS passes through six distinct phases during its life cycle.


  1. The Study Phase
  2. Design Phase
  3. Development Phase
  4. Implementation
  5. Evaluation of the System
  6. Review of the System
 

The Study Phase



  This Phase leads to a feasibility study on

  1. Identification of the problem
  2. Present existing system and its effectiveness
  3. Identifying & evaluating the various alternative courses costs and benefits.
  4. Selecting the best alternative course of action.

Design Phase



  1. Identify the functions to be performed
  2. Design the input/output and file design
  3. Defining basic parameters for system design
Development Phase


At this stage the hardware and software are to be decided.
Implementation



The selected system is given particle shape and adopted for use.
Evaluation of the system



After a period the system is evaluated to see whether it has fulfilled our requirements.
Review of the System



This may result in identification of deficiencies in the system. Also environmental conditions may change so that system   may have to be modified.
